VENTURE CHALLENGE
The 2010 Yale Venture Challenge (formerly known as the Y50K) is a business plan competition open to all members of the Yale community. Run by the Yale Entrepreneurial Society, an undergraduate organization which has given out over $500,000 in seed money since its inception in 1999, the Yale Venture Challenge will feature $35,000 in awards to the best for-profit business plans Yale has to offer.
Structure
First Round: Full business plan submission.
Deadline: Monday, March 22, 2010
Any team with at least one member who is a current student, faculty, or staff member at Yale is invited to submit a 20-25 page business plan.
Final Round: Live presentations.
Finalists announced: Thursday, April 15, 2010
Innovation Summit: Saturday, May 1 2010
Six teams will be selected as finalists to give 10-15 minute pitch presentations to a panel of judges at the Innovation Summit (open to the public), followed immediately by announcement of winners and an awards reception. All submissions will receive judging feedback; finalists will have the opportunity to submit improved business plans for further feedback.
Awards
1st Place: $3,000 in cash; $5,000 in financial consulting from Brentmore Advisors and $10,000 in legal services from a YEI Corporate Partner
2nd Place: $1,000 in cash; $5,000 in financial consulting from Brentmore Advisors and $5,000 in legal services from a YEI Corporate Partner
3rd Place: $1,000 in cash; $5,000 in legal services from a YEI Corporate Partner

Please email your business plan to Yale.Entrepreneurial.Society[at]gmail.com by March 22 2010, along with the Entry Agreement and Prize Claim Form (to be uploaded here shortly).
